Moonbeam McSwine
Ink&Watercolor , 11”x17”. Does anyone remember Moonbeam McSwine , the sexy swineherd from satirist Al Capp’s “Li’l Abner” newspaper strip? By all accounts she was the hottest woman in all of Dogpatch , USA. She was also the woman with the worst hygiene , and no man could stand to be in her presence for long. (She didn’t care too much: the pigs were her first love anyway.) Gone are the days when a young lad could find sexy broads in the comics pages of the newspaper. It’s a wonder me head didn’t explode right off my shoulders...

Very nice interpretation of Moombeam!  Love her gorgeous, sexy looks, and I like how you tailored her outfit.  Great job drawing her sexy legs.  I always found her to be the most attractive of the ladies in "Li'l Abner."

Thanks for sharing!

I first saw Mr Capp's work in High School. The school library had a hardcover book w/a ton of the comic strips.
I'm not overly familiar w/his work, but, that work is awesome!

See if you can sneak back into shcool and steal that book. Joke. I remember nothing even remotely that cool in my own school library. I wonder how that one snuck in there?

no idea, I'm sure one might be able to find it in the labyrinth of the Internet.
Not sure of publish date, though.

Now this is a woman I wouldn't mind rolling in the mud with, if you get my drift.

That really reminds me of some older comic strips. I can't recall if any of them were Li’l Abner, but they definitely had a similar style (and the same hill billy motif.)

Great image btw, the character looks great but I'm in love with the background you placed her in.

Oh yeah, I remember her and Daisy Mae and just about any woman who wasn't a hag in that strip. Sometimes I thought hard about what Al Capp was trying to say, too.

I think I do ... though I could be wrong. My mother collected Pogo, Lil' Abner, and a few others in a scrapbook she keeps down at her lake house in Florida.

Good work. :)
