Description
Thundra
8.5”x11” , ballpoint pen & white China crayon on Kraft paper. Thundra first appeared in Fantastic Four back in the 70’s , in an issue drawn by Ramona Fradon I believe. She was always a large character (described as being 7 feet tall!) ,but didn’t receive a more thick and solid appearance until the great Rich Buckler took over for his vastly underrated art turn on the book. He was asked to lean towards Jack Kirby’s look in the art , and thus the women all took on more zoftig proportions. I’ve chosen to make her much more muscular , as is my wont. But I really think the look suits her , being one of the few female comic characters who’s supposed to be physically impressive. Still going through my seemingly endless list of characters from various media that I want to depict.

Had never heard of her, but MAN, what a backstory!
"From an alternate reality, Thundra is the mightiest warrior from the United Sisterhood Republic, a country of and ruled by the Femizons, a matriarchy of Amazon-like women warriors. Thundra's reality is the reality of the alternate 23rd century Earth-715. Thundra is the strongest person on her world."
I wonder if they ever visited that world.....
